Author of the Week Interview ~ Jodi Ellen Malpas ~ This Man Series

This Man Synopsis:

Young interior designer Ava O’Shea has an appointment for a first consultation at The Manor with the owner, Mr Jesse Ward. She is expecting nothing more than an overweight, cravat wearing, well-to-do countryman, and on arrival, nothing would suggest otherwise. How wrong could she be? This Man is devastatingly handsome, charming and confident. He is also a conceited, hedonistic playboy, who knows no boundaries. Ava desperately does not want to be attracted to him, but she can’t control the overwhelming affect he has on her. Every instinct is telling her to run, so she does, but Jesse Ward is not so willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her. She knows she is heading for heartbreak, but how can she run when he won’t let her?

Beneath This Man Synopsis:

Jesse Ward drowned her with his intensity and blindsided her with his passion, but he kept her away from his dark secrets and broken soul. Leaving him was the only way Ava O'Shea could survive. She should have known that Jesse Ward is impossible to escape--and now he's back in her life, determined to remind her of the sensual pleasures they had shared. Ava is equally determined to get at the truth beneath this man's steely exterior. That means letting herself get close to the Lord of the Manor once more. And it's exactly where Jesse wants her--within touching distance.

This Man Confessed Synopsis:

The Manor, the very place where their passionate love affair began, fills with guests on what should be the happiest day of Ava and Jesse's lives. She has accepted that she'll never tame the fierceness in Jesse-and she doesn't want to. Their love is profound, their connection powerful, but just when she thinks that she's finally gotten beneath his guarded exterior, more questions arise, leading Ava to believe that Jesse Ward may not be the man she thinks he is. He knows too well how to take her to a place beyond ecstasy . . . but will he also drive her to the brink of despair? It's time for this man to confess?

Author Interview with Jodi Ellen Malpas by Claire Lamb

Hi Jodi , I hope you are well?

Congratulations on the huge success on your This Man Series. We are so excited to have you as our Author of the week (2nd – 9th December) on Fictional Mens Room for Book Ho’s and we can’t thank you enough for taking part in this Interview.

What inspired you to start writing?

Me! Sounds stupid, I know, but I wrote MY perfect story, not because the characters are perfect and what happens is perfect, but because I could put everything into THIS MAN that I want to get from a book myself.

Who is your favourite author?

Dan Brown

Why did you choose to write these types of books?

You mean a love story, right?! Because every woman wants to feel THAT desired by a man.

What Book are you reading at the moment if anything?

I’m reading a book given to me by my publisher from a new author. I’ve been asked to give my thoughts and possibly write a tagline for the cover J

Outside of writing what do you do to relax?

I have an amazing set of girlfriends who know when I need a timeout. They remind me that amid my crazy life, I’m still a normal woman. They generally remind me by feeding me wine. Then I’m not so normal at all.

Where did the ideas for your books come from?

Jesse Ward and his story built in my mind for a long long time before I braved writing it all down. He’s an impossibly intense alpha male. A perfect imperfect God.

Did you have any muses for any of your characters?

Not at all, although I know exactly what Jesse looks like. It’s interesting seeing other women’s ideal Jesse. Some are WAY off the mark, but I’d never say. My perfect may not be someone else’s and it’s important for my readers to visualise their perfect Jesse.

Do any of your characters remind you of anyone in your life?

I’m kind of Ava in the strong-minded, independent woman type of way. Kate is definitely close to my Kate with her bluntness and ball-busting attitude.

In your books can you relate to any of the circumstances the characters go through, are there any of your own experiences or total fiction?

MOST is total fiction.

Are the names of the characters in your novels  important to you?

Kate, obviously, but the rest are just names.

Do you plan on revisiting Jesse and Ava in the future or doing a spin off on other characters?

I never say never.

Jesse is very controlling as we all know lol, would you ever fall for someone like this in real life?

Probably. Jesse is intense and bursting at the seams with pure, raw love for Ava. What woman wouldn’t want to be taken so passionately?

Do you have any similarities to Ava?

Too many.

Can I please marry Jesse ha-ha?

No, he’s mine. You get to read about him. Be happy with that ;-)

If This Man series  was made into a movie who would you cast as Jesse?

Hahahahahaha!!! No comment.

Have you ever been to a Manor of any kind, kinky or unkinky after writing your books?

No, but I have thought about opening a THIS MAN MANOR.

The BIG Question everyone wants to know is what are you currently writing and if you won’t tell us when will we find out …ish lol?

I love this question and hate it all at once. I’m desperate to share but I’m unable to right now. Soon-ish J

Why a Calla Lilly does it have any meaning to you personally?

Understated elegance at its best. Simple but so effective. Perfect.

Do you dream of Jesse at night or talk to him in your mind?

I think most authors chat with their characters in their head. I dream of Jesse every day.

If you had a superpower what would it be and why?

I’d like to have the ability to create a perfect man, and I’d make Jesse. For me.

Does your family support you with your writing?

Absolutely!

What is your least favourite part in the writing progress?

I don’t have one. I love every minute, although if I had to say now, then it would be the pressure to deliver and meet the expectations my readers have. I didn’t have that pressure when writing THIS MAN.

 E reader or Paperback?

Paperback

Do you do anything when writing? (e.g., listen to music, sit on floor ect)?

Imagine everything. I put myself in the scene.

If you wrote a book about your life....what name would you call yourself and what 3 words would you use to describe your personality?

THIS WOMAN. Intelligent, genuine and sexy.

Has there been a review that has stood out the most for you?

I don’t read reviews! EVER! Frighten me to death, even the fabulous ones!

Are there any traditions you do after finishing a book?

Start the next immediately!

Favourite Colour?

Black, and if anyone says it isn’t a colour, then I might trample all over their arse.

Favourite Food?

Salmon and scrambled egg.

Night or Day?

Night.

In or Out

Out

Favourite Drink? (I think I owe you one when we get to Edinburgh next year)

In that case, I’ll have Dom Perignon ;-) See you there!

Tidy or Untidy?

Tidy, although people who work with me will totally disagree. My ‘office’ is a disgrace…but I know where everything is.

Thanks for being an absolute star and taking part in the Interview.
